First off, there is a hidden lesson in this entry. It is something that I have been talking about for a while. Let me come of clean and let you know that the link I provide you in this entry will be a referral link for me, and I will make money indirectly. However, this is an interesting way to make money which can be implemented in a completely passive manner to make a tiny bit of money, or actively, like the guy who referred me, who made $350 this month, with a chance to win more later.

Before I paste in the details from the site we are talking about "All In Poker", I should give you a little background information. It is estimated that over 80 million adults currently play poker. Tons of people play poker online. Yes, the Department of Justice has said that online poker is illegal, however there has been zero enforcement of this ruling. Many legal experts say that the law they quote to establish that online poker is illegal only refers to sports betting. Nations have sued the United States in WTO courts regarding this ruling, saying that is is a hinderance to free trade. The WTO ruled against the United States, saying that barring internet poker goes against the spirit of free trade. I would expect that the DOJ will reverse its decision in the coming year. Regardless, I wouldn't expect the Feds to come knocking on your door over you making $100. It just isn't going to happen.

I joined All In Poker at the behest of my friend and business ally, Wade. Wade runs a very successful internet radio station. So, I joined this site, and never even downloaded the poker client. All In Poker, when people join the site unreferred, will automatically assign the new player to a random user, up to 2 free people per level. So you could realistically get someone assigned to you randomly who is a big time poker player, and make a nice chunk of revenue doing nothing but signing up for the program. Unfortunately, I got two bums like me. And then each of my two bums got two more bums, and I made a whopping 8 cents last month. Then again, that isn't so bad for something I signed up for and did nothing to promote. I know bloggers who dont make 8 cents a month on Adsense.

The basic premise is simple "pyramid" or "MLM" which are both seriously dirty words. But in this context, where it costs nothing to do, nothing to implement, it is legal and effective. Of course the more people in your downline who play, the more money you make, but even so, if you are actively referring people, and All In is randomly giving you 2 people every time you complete a level, you could have 97,655 people underneath you. Even if non of them played enough to make you more than 2 cents a month, that is still almost $2000 a month. Also, if you play poker, once a month there is a freeroll (a freeroll is a poker tournament with cash prizes, but you dont pay to play) with all of the "unearned" revenue. All In Poker gives back 51% of all profits to the players. If the player doesnt earn his money, it goes to the freeroll. You automatically earn 25% of your income, without playing at all. Even without playing, you can still play in the freeroll and win a nice chunk of money.

So, without further ado, here is the majority of the FAQ section referring to the affiliate program at All In Poker.

Q: How does the All In Poker Rewards Program (ARP) work?
A: You get paid commission on 51% of the net revenues generated by all players on your first 7 Levels (up to 97,655 players in total). On Levels 1, 2 & 3 you get paid 10%. On Levels 4, 5 & 6 you get paid 15%. On Level 7, the most populated, you get 25 %. If you add all these percentages up (10,10,10,15,15,15,25) it comes to 100% of the 51% allocated for commission within your downline.

Every player automatically gets 25% of their commission (i.e. 25% of the 51%). If you play 750 AIP raked hands per month or become a Super Affiliate then you earn 100% of your commission (i.e. 100% of the 51%). If you play less than 750 AIP raked hands then the commission is calculated pro-rata. Any unearned commission goes to the Breakage and is distributed amongst the members in the form of Freeroll tournaments and cash bonuses. You earn commission on all players in the first 7 Levels of your downline whether they were referred by you or not. You always earn commission on Direct Referrals even if your downline is full. If you run out of slots for Direct Referrals then All In Poker allocates a new leg on your Level 1.

The beauty of this program is in its simplicity - you only have to refer between one to five good players to your Level 1 and you can already build a cash generating downline.

Q: What is a Super Affiliate and how does this affect my earnings?
A: Super Affiliate (see ARP Rules): An entity (corporate or individual) who has directly referred at least 50 active players (Super Affiliate Floor) to AIP thus reducing the required number of raked hands s/he must play. In addition, if s/he refers 100 or more active players (Super Affiliate Ceiling), he achieves the Raked Hands Waiver and is not required to play any raked hands for the current bonus period.

Q: How do I invite people into my downline?
A: After logging in, you may go to the "Invitations" tab which will allow you to input your friends name, e-mail address and a personalised greeting which will be sent as an email along with an active link that, when clicked, will route the new member to the registration page which will be pre-populated with your unique Sponsor ID. You are of course free to distribute your Sponsor ID in any way that you devise. For example, you can display the Sponsor ID on a web site, print it on business cards, or even send it by post. It depends on whom you are addressing.

Q: What kind of marketing information is available to me?
A: You may use the eMovie and the AIP Brochure from the web site. If you would like assistance in marketing All In Poker to your friends please feel free to contact us at affiliates@allinpoker.com

So check it out guys. Worst that can happen is that you signup, forget about it, and have a few pennies pop into your account every month. Or you can be like Wade, who just got on his Yahoo IM and started talking to his friends about it, and has over 500 people in his downline now, making $350/mo doing nothing. And isn't that what blogging is all about? Multiple passive streams of income. Money you can make while you are fishing, or on the toilet. Or at the nudie bar!

The secret lesson in today post is that this entry looks just like my B-L-O-G, but it isnt my B*L*O*G. Which means that Adsense isnt spamming the ads in the sidebar with ads for... you know.... BL.... heheh.

Previously I explained adding the company names to the Competitive Ad Filter. Of course it seems every 5 minutes a new affiliated company starts advertising, and it is very hard to keep those ads, or ads for we& ho$t!ng, which don't pay for crap. So my new idea is FAQ and info pages like these, which give you great info, and arent inundated with the "B word" in the code.

In fact, why dont we start a trend now, as Adsense users, and start calling "it" the B-Word. If it means making more money, I'll happily implement it. Let me know what you think! And for goodness sake, dont say the B-Word!

Sharla Lehrmann reports on PokerStars Caribbean Adventure!

From Sharla Lehrmann:

<quote>
The 3rd annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be underway January 4th running through January 11th.
